But the combined military forces of several nations are unable to find a single passenger airplane?

Considering this search is costing a fortune and some of the military hardware being used is so top secret that reporters are not allowed to photograph the planes or talk about them...

The entire thing is just a joint military exercise.
Again in my personal opinion there never was a plane that went missing and the entire bullshit about passengers and their families is just that.. more bullshit.
