I don't think she is "targeted at children" at all.
No more than Motley Crue was "targeted at children". Yeah, kids like the newest music. But her "Hannah Montana" days have been over for 4 years.
She's a grown up woman doing songs that are aimed at other young adults who go to clubs.
If she kept singing songs for little kids she wouldn't have a career left.
And when you say "mainstream stage"...do you mean for "mainstream" consumption?
Then that would fit right in with "Game Of Thrones", "The Wolf Of WallStreet", and every movie that ever had fucking in it wouldn't it?
And that would include all the bands I mentioned before as well: Mick Jagger riding a giant cock onstage 42 years ago (and yes, that was all in Creem Magazine which all us teenagers read every month to keep up with our favorite bands...yes, we actually kept up with things BEFORE the internet), Ozzy Osbourne biting the head off a bird onstage, Alice Cooper simulating necrophilia in his songs and onstage show, etc., etc.
All of that too...was part of "mainstream" entertainment.
I can go down to Caesars Palace here in Vegas and go to the "Absinthe" show and see more "shocking" and "outrageous" visuals and xxx humor than Miley Cyrus will ever do onstage.
And yes...that's about as part of the "mainstream stage" as it gets.
Face it...it's all because Miley Cyrus was once a child star. Has everybody up in arms. She's not supposed to ever change.
She had a different idea. And it's been wildly successful for her at the moment.
A big show full of "controversy" and just a little bit "dangerous" has always been the key to showbiz success.
