In the 70 and 80s they were shit. In the 90s they began to improve. Now, their products are close to par with many of the better brands.
However, I know you V, and you are tall, so make sure you get the added height and the extra thick counter-tops to ease your back as you are cooking.
IKEA is nice now, not compared to before. Just dont get their cheapest versions.
