Do you realize that sending out false DMCA notices is in itself bad news? If what was quoted from the footer is true then they should have never been sent from anyone other than the content owners because the person sending had to claim ownership. If someone accuses me of infringing a copyright that isn't theirs I am not going to give them the courtesy of an email to "clear things up". I'm sure the guy is awesome, several have vouched, but this is just bad business.

I would imagine that twitter and tumblr would allow you to dispute these claims with them, not with the site owner. You are supposed to be given a certain amount of time to reply. Now they could boot you arbitrarily if they wanted but I doubt this is their standard policy.
