I'm not a producer, but from a marketing perspective we tend to maintain a balance between high quality yet keeping the fantasy aspect as well. It's a fine line, more so now that the quality has improved so much, but there definitely is a large market for the smoke and mirrors look still. Not to say there wouldn't be a market for the vivid realism as well, the amateur or now 'exgf' has a good sized market that isn't going anywhere either.
