3) FIFA world cup is the largest single-sport sporting event, and largest sports event in the world aside from the Olympics. Calling soccer a "lesser sport" than football is just ridiculous, at least on a global scale, which is the only scale that matters since the WC is a global event. Superbowl may be watched in 90 countries but at the end of the day it's really still only a USA-only event. (Go Niners!)
