Well, Stanis made reference to something like 7 or 8000 captives, did he not? He asked Mance if he would surrender or not, and that the lives of his men hangs in the balance. Mance said "We're northmen, we don't surrender"
He was asked again, and he replied "We don't surrender"
As to the rest of his 100,000 horde, we can only assume they either ran or... surrendered. :D
If I recall correctly, in the book a lot of Mance's army was leaving and going home at one point, no? Relentless, hep me oot here.
