As long as he wasn't kidnapped or something of that nature, it's best to just let it run it's course. I mean shit the kid is 4 months away from being an adult, if he is forced back against his will, what is the chance he wont just go again in 4 months.
I left home when I was 17, but my parents knew where I was (at motherfucking Great Lakes, Illinois, for Navy boot camp in January = minus zero wind chill factor), so I know a 17 year old can make it on their own and toughen the fuck up when they have to.

The back story indicates that he was not in immediate danger (not that I have the whole story):

The Glasser family believes Brady might have been feeling pressure from his upcoming high school graduation, which might have caused him to run away.

TMZ is reporting that Brady got on a bus and arrived in Portland on Tuesday.

His family thinks he might have come here to meet up with a friend he met in an online video game.

I think the Glasser's just want to know their kid is okay.
