Listening to CNN today and they gave that number for job growth as well.
Then they followed it up with the FACT that the actual number of people in the job force who are actively working is 62.8% the lowest since 1979 (35 years).
That means that people are just not working anymore.
That would explain these stats:
Welfare Statistics
Total number of Americans on welfare 12,800,000
Total number of Americans on food stamps 46,700,000
Total number of Americans on unemployment insurance 5,600,000
Percent of the US population on welfare 4.1 %
Total government spending on welfare annually (not including food stamps or unemployment) $131.9 billion
I'd say that instead of figuring out new ways to spend money that we don't have as a country...the U.S. govt. should be making America THE place to do business so that businesses will bring real jobs back.
