They run t.v. commercials here all the time from the power company encouraging people to use less. And then they raise the rates to keep your bill high anyway.

Are you sure about that? The Washington post says the reason is because The federal Highway Trust Fund will run out of money in August. The last time the gas tax was raised was in 1993. Full story and interesting read at
