Only the ignorant turn this issue into partisan politics, these are systemic problems that both parties at the state and federal level have contributed to it and been unable to solve it and neither can really be blamed.
There simply aren't enough high paying jobs for everyone, technology is chiefly to blame. A nation of service people, whether it's shampooing dogs or performing brain surgery it's what we are. The load will continue to be laid on the rich to support the working poor and the lazy who'd rather take handouts than a menial job. A higher minimum wage does nothing to solve the problem, lower tax rates do nothing to solve the problem, nothing does. So stop pointing fingers at either party.
The government and educators need to stop lying to teenagers and their families about college, they know the vast majority of kids will never get a worthwhile college degree and will end up saddled with debt. We're subsidizing the education of the minority of college students who will become highly paid in their fields on the backs of immature kids who shouldn't be in college.
