The owner decided to save some money and do the work himself. So when you show up for work they tell you that you are going to be up on the roof tearing up shingles and helping re-roof the building. You aren't comfortable climbing 20 feet in the air and working on the roof. Should you have to? You are a McDonald's employee after all and this is technically doing something for the company.

Another example. You are a pornstar. You get hired to shoot a scene where you will bang some woman on a couch. Great. You accept the gig and show up for the shoot. When you arrive they tell you there has been a change of plans. They have decided to make it a bisexual threeway scene. You are still going to bang the girl, but you are also going to get blown by a guy and you have to jerk the other guy off. Should you still have to do this? Afterall, you are a pornstar. Your job is to fuck. What should it matter who you fuck?

It isn't like this guy sued them or even made a big deal out of the situation. They wanted him to have scenes where he would pretend to be gay and have a gay relationship. He didn't like the idea of that and was uncomfortable with it so he quit. Just like you should be able to quit any job if you are not comfortable with what the employer is asking you to do.
Okay, but porn is actual sex. Mainstream TV show is kissing at the most. It's not the same thing.
