You want a happy, well rounded kid, share your sports with them as I have and millions more in the US.

The NRA has many youth programs.

You shouldn't wrap your kids in bubble wrap
Don't you read what I write? My kids would learn to shoot at the age of 8, but with airguns, and later on when they are a bit older, I would introduce them for "real guns". Well, I would let them test fire .22 earlier on, but just to fill curiosity.

Yes, NRA has probably a lot of things, I don't doubt that. Even if I wouldn't introduce my kids to guns at all, it wouldn't be anykind of "bubble wrap". Most kids in the world aren't introduced to guns at early age or many (or most) at all in their lives, and they do just fine.

I am anyways mostly to hunting and fishing. Guns are just means to get prey.
