95% wouldn't be good in a firefight. I love it when people on GFY say "If I hear a noise down stairs I'm putting out my firearm and protecting myself". Yet not one of them gives consideration to where their spouse is, their child is, their dog is, or how intoxicated their neighbor is that night.
My kid is 14, and they have friends over for over night stays - sleep overs. I am an early riser, and at this age I do not try to stay up as late as them to supervise them. I turn on the alarm system, tell them be quiet, and go to bed.... When I hear something go bump in the middle of night I don't jump up and arm myself. If the alarm didn't go off it's a safe bet that it's my kid or my wife or my dog.
I look at all of my kid's teachers and the only one I would trust with a firearm would be the principal - he looks like he could kick ass.
