- Remove the Bing Translator
- Disable any WordPress plugin that slows your site and that isn't essential
- For a CDN use CloudFlare https://www.cloudflare.com/
- Ask for a refund from HostGator

Pick a different shared host. I guess you can't pick an unmanaged server?

I would opt for one of these:
- http://certifiedhosting.com/
- http://www.inter-systeme.ca/hebergement.php (It beat any other shared host easily in reliability and speed in the last 3 years. Support is in french though.If that's not a problem for you it'll do wonders.)

Pick a term of one month, transfer your content and see if it is better. There are no html to word ratio.
