I always figured that if I were to try to do a cam startup like he was doing (and mtc too, or any cam startup for that matter) that I would offset the lack of models with feeds and/or embeds from various sponsors so that as I built traffic and brand for myself, and attracted more models I would also have some cash coming in from cross-promotion. (hopefully that blurb makes sense).
So, the webcam com api, if it works as it is being described, would be perfect for that because you could integrate the api fully while still running your own models.
Solves the problem of "No models on line right now" that all new cam startups face.

Well having been down that road here's what I would do:
For me webcams anything seems like a dead end. Just doesn't convert for me. I have a 5 year old white label with them, 100's of thousands of uniques and not a single free signup. I've discussed with their aff reps and nobody can figure it out, maybe I just suck. Whatever, I don't care anymore.
So basically I need my own models. Since my site is too slow to keep the girls busy I put them on a few sites at once. like 2 or 3, sites like MFC and Chaturbate work best cause they don't do as many private shows there so no need to sign off from the other sites to entertain a crowd.
That way I can keep my girls busy enough to keep them around for my few customers and they aren't falling asleep or anything. I provide a location with internet, security, transportation and food and pay them a weekly base salary (low but it guarantees they are not wasting their time) and then I pay them a percentage of what they earn on the sites they work, again a little low but between that and the salary they usually end up with more than they would get on their own. They also get a very generous rev share on my site which keeps them interested in focusing their attention there, even with the long breaks between customers.
That whole operation runs at a small loss but it keeps my site staffed 24/7 which is a pretty hard thing for a cam startup to pull off and gives me a huge advantage in retaining customers.
