Down and dirty quick temporary solution... ???
Remove the 'empty' cartridge, and look at the back of it - The part that faces away from you and into the printer.
Towards the bottom, there should be a very small (pin head size) hole. The printer shoots a small lazer into this hole when asked to print. If it doesn't 'come back' straight away, it assumes that the ink is empty, and instructs the printer to fuck with you.... (not print)
So, take a black sharpie, and color in the tiny hole. When lazer fires, it comes back immeaditly, as if it was full of ink, and allows normal function.
Try it - I'm not kidding
