That's my own thoughts though, based on reading through her various text books, translating tons of articles on the topic from polish to english for magazines and listening to her talk about nothing else with her dentist friends for the last 4 years while she was doing doctorate and specialization

It's really easy to fuck up teeth with braces if you read into how the actual mechanics of it work. The teeth are all straightened in relation to each other - they aren't anchored to any solid, immobile point (unless they are using microimplants) - so twisting or moving one tooth puts forces on the other teeth that are bound to it and can shorten them, lengthen them, push them inwards or outwards etc.
