I keep a supply of Naproxin 750 mg (24 hr slow-release) pills. They're the same ones that were prescribed to my brother years ago when he suffered upper spinal and neck vertebral fractures and had to have a spinal fusion done. I too had a spinal fusion done when I was 16, my upper and lower back is now shot. Especially my lower back.

The 750's help. Nothing's going to be effective 'enough', but they are a damn sight more potent than anything non-prescrption. And they're non-addictive.
