People are responsible for putting themselves in a position to have a negative outcome by their own stupid actions. In this case this ... "Officer Aaron Lorton is among the police who have been called to the Excel Center after Kincade (guy in the wheelchair) told school security he has a gun in his backpack"
Many times the reaction that's way out of line or even tragic could have so easily been averted if the person wasn't behaving like an idiot in the first place.
Again, not defending what the cop did but what kind of an idiot tells school officials he has a gun on him in the first place?

who is to say the guy didn't go back to school for nostalgic reasons, gets approached by security, detailed and asked if he is carrying weapons, says yes, cops get called with the reports of a gun
weird the dude would be allowed to go, after basically threatening someones life
