I started noticing this trend about six weeks ago (tho I'm sure it's been around much longer) and maybe others have experienced this, too: I get an email trying to sell me this or that. It doesn't go to the Spam filter but directly to my Inbox. So I scan down for the 'unsubscribe' or 'if you want to stop receiving these emails' link.*
* Don't you just love it when emails have white text on a white background so the only way to even find the 'unsubscribe' link is to highlight all the text on the page? Grey-on-grey is actually my favorite of these tricks because sometimes, even when you highlight all the text, the highlight color overrides the grey so you can't see shit. You end up scanning the page in search of a link with your curser like Helen Keller reading a braille Chinese menu trying to find the egg rolls.
When I click the 'unsubscribe' link a window pops up asking me to enter my email. i do so then get a confirmation message, something like 'We have received your request, it may take up to 14 days to remove, if you have any problems contact us' etc. All good - except within days I suddenly start receiving wave after wave of these sales emails, all with the same 'unsubscribe' link and page asking me to enter my email, etc. I contact abuse at so-and-so.com and get no response. Am I subscribing to differant mailing lists every time I UNsubscribe from an existing one?
Incredible, and apparently legal? Is there a limit to how many of these emails I can receive? How long can this circle jerk go on? I have decided to count and wait and see...so far I've gotten 32 of them.
If this shit is legal then let's gire up the mailing software and have at it. LOL Any other cute email marketing 'tips' (tricks) from mainstream we should be using in Adult?
