You *really* need to call that cops station and find out something... some states don't add points on multi-lane roads if you were doing under 20mph OVER the limit (19 or less)... So if the cop wrote it for 30mph and it was actually a 35 mph zone, then you got the points... but if the NY law is one that overlooks the under 20 thing, then don't let them get you on points.
And don't be real surprised to have your insurance dropped. If they call and 'ask' tell them the truth or your guilty of attempt to defraud an insurance company and they are reallll serious about that anymore. They check that alot more often then you think. They pay a monthly fee in most states to access, not a per access fee.
Tell them upfront and the reason WHY you got the ticket and you would get off with a small increase (or maybe nothing since you weer in unfamiliar territory and it was your first time)
