one of the double standards here - Pro- Russian government , legally elected by people in Ukraine was overthrowned and Ukraine got other government - not so pro-Russian actually... and not so pro-east too...
now Imagine if due to violent protests in Ottawa, Canada one time decide to leave all unions with US and be partner of China....imagine reaction of US.
and now please tell me about double standards :-)
what I want to say is: Ukraine is dangerous for Russia if it would be anti-Russian.so being cynical and with common sense - it was just expected.
add to that the fact that Ukraine is actually divided...east always was pro-Russian and pro-Yanukovich...and now you have today's mess.
consider also fact : historical proximity, geographical proximity, cultural proximity, economical proximity, and language proximity
it is not even like Cuba and US..more like Canada and US
I already asked same question before - imagine Russia funds orange revolution in Mexico and Canada, what would US do?
