There are some archaic laws on the books making sodomy illegal in parts of the U.S. The laws are not as broadly defined by state, but rather by specific counties, cities, towns and municipalities. For example, certain areas of North and South Florida have widely differing views. Most of these conservative areas are probably in the Bible Belt. You should be able to determine which areas are off limits by checking the shipping policies of any large adult DVD retailer. If you're selling on a wholesale level, your best bet is to sell through a distributor who knows the laws.
There may be differences between what are classified as committing illegal acts and possessing obscene materials containing illegal acts. I.E. Committing an act of sodomy may be illegal, but possessing a DVD with sodomy may be ok or vice versa.
