I'm still under NDA for a lot of the algorithmic stuff, but I can say the following without being in any sort of breach (it's public info):
They're not counting your clicks for the purposes of suppressing your traffic, but rather to get a baseline to measure the results of visits. If you're getting people to click on your site, then they are immediately pressing "back", your bounces will be high, and your session times will be low. Google will then de-prioritize you, as the link was not perceived as valuable by the user.
I was at Google HQ last week having a discussion about this very thing ... what's your bounce rate, in Google Analytics? Maybe I can share some insights.
