You are delusional. A jury is not going to question officer Wilson's following of the police department's terms of engagement. What are they going to find? That Wilson should have ran away and waited for backup?
I'd be surprised if there was a civil trial. No lawyer is going to work pro bono on a case they know can't be won and then be labeled as the guy who "screwed up" the case. And nobody is going to donate the funds to pay for a lawyer because they know it's like flushing the money down the toilet.
