No, you are making tons of assumptions. Number one, and I realize it may be different in England, but ad and add are not the same. I hate to be a grammar Nazi but your assumptions made me do it.
You can buy the gun any time you want, that does not mean you can take it home because background checks are not available 24 hours a day. This actually worked to my advantage on Christmas day, sometime in the early 90's.
