There is another video I saw this morning about a white police officer "harassing" for "having their hands in their pockets". The video shows the officer asking questions and the man saying "You cannot arrest me for having my hands in my pockets". It looks bad.
But the full story is this man was pacing in front of a store and acting suspicious, and the store owner got nervous and called 911. The police wasn't harassing anyone - he was responding to a suspicious person call.
Somewhere along the line it became acceptable to not respect police officers. I am not sure where any of you grew up, but police officers are almighty - No one can fuck your life up as quickly as a police officer. They can wrestle you to the ground, put cuffs on you, throw you in the back of the car, and before you know you it you are bent over the jailhouse sink having your asshole widened by your new cell mate while screaming out "Mommy" at the top of your lungs.
I'm not saying police officers are saints or never wrong but they can turn your life upside instantly.
This man didn't die because of a choke hold. He died because after dozens of arrests he still didn't learn something as simple as "respect". That and his four hundred pounds killed him.
