Yes, most of the code gurus who try to reinvent the wheel (if not whole car), which is tested and supported from vendors, ends up spending more (time is money!) and having to update themselves. Being a coder is still useful if you have the source code and you can do small edits yourself, or in giving meaningful instructions to developers how to customise existing software (what I hire konrad for).
