They could have filed years ago. The one suit that was settled was in 2006 and had 12 other victims ready to testify on the victims behalf before Cosby decided it was best to settle and seal the testimony. All those other victims then could have filed also, its been 8 years and none have. The reason victims are coming forward this year is because that 2006 lawsuit was finally brought out by mainstream news media earlier this year when a black standup comedian called Cosby a rapist. Many of the women who have recently come forward had no idea that 2006 civil lawsuit had occurred until now. Once they realized there were many other victims they felt the power to come forward with what happened to them. You can call them liars, media whores or whatever, but it doesn't make any sense to say they are out for money, when none have sought monetary compensation from Cosby.
