That reminds me of a time when I was in high school with my moms friends brother. We were playing basketball and on the way home when somehow started this conversation started where I was saying "there is nothing you could say or do that would embarrass me but if you want, I'll happily embarrass the shit out of you". We were both smart asses that loved pranks so it was the perfect storm for two shitheads. We walk into this mall and working in this kiosk is this really cute blond girl that I had a huge crush on. I went up to her and said hi and ordered something to drink forgetting he was with me. Though I never mentioned her, I guess he figured it out really quickly and said "oh, is this that girl you're madly in love with that you can't stop taking about. Wow. She's really cute and you're right, she has incredible eyes and a beautiful smile just like you said". Her mother was sitting right next to her. I just stood there speechless for a moment looking at both of them and stuttered something and walked away.
Right after that, we are in a Kmart type store in the checkout line. It's Christmas and super busy with huge lines of people packed together. He gets to the cashier and put whatever small thing he needed to buy up to pay for it. I stepped back, feigning a look a look of disgust and said "so that's it!? You're really going to do it?... fine, I want nothing to do with this, if you're not going to take that out of your pocket and pay for it... I'm leaving you here" and started to walk away, pausing to give him a chance to "do the right thing". So the cashier is saying "look, I don't care ... just pay for whatever it is or leave it" and he's getting super defensive saying "I don't have anything" and I start making a scene "well fuck this; I hate thieves, I'm out of here... Enjoy your jail time!". Then everyone in line is getting mad at him "look dude, stop being an ass and just pay for whatever it is... Seriously!" And of course saying "I don't know what you're talking about" is the least satisfying answer from a suspected thief so everyone else doubled down on their hostility. Finally he had to take off his jacket and let a guy searched him to prove he had nothing.
After that, we both agreed to stop playing the game of trying to embarrass each other.
