In 1987 I interviewed The Bee Gees. They had a comeback hit with 'One'. Anyway I remember Barry saying what he was really worried about was what he termed 'standards'. He said when The Bee Gees were starting out their standard were bands like The Beatles, meaning they had to try and be as good as them (impossible but that was the Goal). Barry said today (1987!!) someone can take out a keyboard, hit a few buttons and what comes out is pretty close to what you hear on the radio. So he was worried that musicians in the future would become lazy and not try to master their instruments (or voices).

So that has stayed with me all these years when I hear all this auto-tuned shit (hilarious/painful when these "artists" try and sing live) and bands that can barely play four chords.
