If you really look at politics in the U.S. with your eyes open...you begin to see the real power.
It's not so much a President. They last only 4 to 8 years. Then they are put out to pasture and have zero power.
No, the REAL power is found in the two parties.
Think about it...President's come and go...but Republicans and Democrats in the House and Senate and all the bureaucrats in the giant over-bloated govt. are there for LIFE.
And even if some get voted out in the next election...they will just be replaced by another Dem or Repub and nothing changes.
There are plenty of people in Congress right now who are directly responsible for the housing crash that took down our economy from legislation they wrote back in the 1990's.
And people just keep voting for them.

I am always amazed at how our leaders can repackage the same bullshit and continue to get people to buy into it.
John Stewart was interviewing a republican stratagist during the Obama/McCain election and he asked him why people should vote republican and the guy said because they were best equipped to fix the problems. Stewart laughed and said, "So basically your pitch is that you are the best people to fix what you screwed up." The guy kind of shrugged and said, "Yup."
I've heard the same thing from democrats and republicans since I was old enough to pay attention to politics and it seems like neither one of them has really actually done any of the things they promised (with the exception of healthcare reform, but there are many arguments that Obamacare didn't really reform much).
