Think "Average".

Nasa and Noaa says that Planet earth is on average, 1.4 degrees Fahrenheit (0.8 degrees Celsius), than it was in 1880, when temperature record keeping began.

Of course you will have colder days and warmer days, but the average of the entire planet, is now 1.4 F warmer.
