Did you propperly read what i've said above? i m an apostate, i've born in a muslim family, the comunity which you sound sempatetic to, so most likely i can give you more insights than just an ordinary romantic who sees white and black.
i don't deny the fact that A specially US and Israel's policies contributed radicalisation of area, but here you mix apples and oranges, if an army bombs your country, i can understand you defend your homeland and hit back that army, but yoo wouldn't kill unarmed cartoonist who just troled your stupid religion.
the reality is, there needed to be huge cultural changes in muslim world, for example: sometimes, being "the other" is too hard in them/Muslim societies, although it differs from region to region and valid for locals rather than foreigners.
a simple question to you, for example: did you know that today, people with sharpest islamo-phobic ideas lived in my homeland which was/is actually a predominantly muslim country? and do you know why is that?
if you can answer this, it would help you to look at this topic from a wider perspective.
and for being double standarded, i don't think one society is any differant from the other, but at least while westerners are chritical to their own history and open to chritisism, muslims didn't even came close to that level, sad but true.
