Another reason things are different in Soho is because the theaters in Soho or the West Village tend to have a different selection of movies than do the big chain theaters located throughout the city.

Well, to honestly answer your question: an East Harlem ghetto (barrio?) theater is where I go when the Colombian chick I'm banging wants to go see a movie "down the block".
Given a choice, now that I have sampled the various hood theaters, I would take a cab downtown, yes.
