It does not matter.. However many of them are under investigation due to them likely being murders by the prison guards. One was boiled alive in an extremely hot shower.. The inmate was put into the shower as punishment. (that one made national news) another was an inmate whom was gassed to death by being locked in a closed cell with no ventilation and the guards either pepper sprayed him or used some sort of gas canister. Another was in a wheel chair and found hung to death at a height the person could have never reached..the guards called it a suicide.
The simple fact is once an inmate is in custody, they are the responsibility of the state. That means the state has to keep them safe. If they were not given the death penalty or life in prison there is no reason anyone should die while in custody aside from illness. Out side of that the state should be held liable for any deaths.
