The cop pulled a U-turn...came back and roughed the cyclist up - then hauled him into the station and detained him (no charges were laid).
So...the cyclist sued the cops. The cop was investigated and ended up on "administrative duties" pushing a pencil. Apparently he'd had a history of roughing people up.
Now - I'm no cop lover. It's common knowledge our local Niagara regional force has one of the highest corruption rates in all of Canada. But I also work with cops on a daily basis - and have met many good ones. In fact, several of my co-workers have brothers/uncles/cousins that are cops - and they're good folk, too. My late uncle was a high-ranking RCMP...and I have a neice and nephew who are cops in the Jane/Finch area of Toronto.
But overall - I don't have much use for cops. As an officer of the court myself - I treat them with professional courtesy and respect according to how they treat me - but that's it. Much of the time I go with the assumption they're assholes until proven otherwise, as opposed to the other way around.

Your niece and nephew are earning their paychecks that's for sure. What a shit hole to have to work in. Good for them keeping the city safe from the thug assholes that reside there.
