Super Bowl 49 is officially the most watched event is U-S history.
Nielsen ratings says over 114 million people watched the Patriots win -- topping the record of 112.2 million set last year.
It's the fifth time in six years that a Super Bowl game has set a record.

The good news for Canadians is that in two years from now we will (reportedly) be able (allowed) to once again watch the American commercials during the Super Bowl. For those that don't know and are curious, we Canucks were able to switch over to one of the US stations and watch the "good" commercials, but roughly 8 years ago or thereabouts the Canadian cable networks put a stop to it and started simulcasting/overdubbing Canadian commercials, even on the US stations we get here.
Reason; they were missing out on all that fat ad revenue. The thing is, most if not all Canadian viewers don't give a rat's ass about that. We want to watch the damned commercials! Well, apparently our cable networks have switched on the lightbulb and have figured out how to allow us access to them and still make money. (amazing)
I'll add in one stat further --- I believe that Seattle's decision to throw a pass in the final seconds will go down in the books as one of the all-time DUMBEST play calls in NFL history. There, I said it.
