The Superbowl has become the supporting player to everything else, it's ridiculous.
Suffice it to say, I don't watch the commercials, or the half time shows or other such nonsense. But I certainly watch and enjoy the game, the same as I do during the Grey Cup game.

I can agree with some of what you're saying, but you are in the vast VAST minority on this. People have been complaining by the droves, and loudly, for several years now abou this. The result is that the policy (they say) is going to change because of it.
What they (the cable networks) found was happening is that Canadian viewers were flocking in droves to the US feed stations to watch the game, and it's because of one thing and one thing only... the commercials. They're like the icing on the proverbial cake.
The game itself will always be the main attraction, for me at least. But I want it ALL. The commercials, the half-time, the game, the hype, all of it. And every single Canadian viewer that I personally know who watches the SB resents having their viewing filtered and boring Canadian commercials forced on them. Every one.
Like it or not it's changing.
