Google invested $258 million in Uber back in 2013, and since then Google's Senior Vice President of Corporate Development and Chief Legal Officer David Drummond has been on Ubers board of directors.
Some could argue that Google Ventures investment and Drummond's presence on the board of directors is what gave Uber the credibility to get billions in venture capital from other investors, and become what they are today.
