There is quite a lot to it. Websites like majestic.com,
SemRush.com, rank tracking software, different methods of getting links. This is something that constantly evolves and changes, but people who do it on a full time basis, on different types of websites, and for a long time, know a lot more than people who dont do it, or work with these tools.
