I would respect the will, but that would mean serious mental issues. I mean outside working and walking he would have less than 8 hours left. Not enough for good sleep (you need much of it walking that much + working in a factory), let alone for ANYTHING else.
Instead he could at least take a bicycle if not a $500 beater to drive...
