Indeed. Those rebels don't want to join Russia, and as far as I know, Russia is not going to let them in (we already have the enormous territory which in fact makes a lot of problems to us). They want their own country or at least an autonomy with its own budget etc.

Wrong. It is "the Ukraine" (in English: "the Outskirts"). Just like the Netherlands or the USA.
