Why do so many keep living where the weather is so shitty almost year round?

Hi all,

Almost every day of the year, I see major weather effecting so many here in the US. It is always up North and mostly in the northeast. It's insane what you all endure to live in these places. It is hard for me to understand because except for 4 years that I spent going to college in Boston, I have lived only in Florida and California. Here in SoCal, we have beautiful almost every day of the year. Yes we are in a drought but the weather is almost always amazing.

My questions is why? Why do you live there? Not being able to leave because of financial reason or because all of your family tree is there is one thing. However, it's not like those cities or suburbs are so unique that you can't find beautiy in a warmer weather region. Why stay in laces like Pittsburgh, Green Bay, Philly that are not only shitty cities for the most part but have unbelievably terrible weather too.

I made myself a promise a long time ago that I would never live in a place without palm trees or that you would not want to vacation twice.... It's worked out very well so far.

I'm not trying to offend anyone here, I'm just really curious as to why?

Discuss!

Thanks, Mitch
