She did, but unfortunately for her and Egypt it was too little too late.. Pretty much nothing she could have done could have prevented the decline of the Egyptian Empire.. It was in it's decline well before even the Ptolomies were placed on the throne. Hatshepsut however did amazing things.. aside from her architectural accomplishments (thanks to Senmut, her lover and architect), she also re-established trade with Punt (it's in Africa), as well as several highly successful military campaigns and the consolidation of the power that was up for grabs in the time of her father and grandfather
If Cleopatra had come 500 year sooner, however, she would have been a force to be reckoned with.
