I am not sure about this comparison. You are comparing goods that cost money to free porn. I don't think that a comparison to the tubes can be made with a brick and mortar business.
In an anecdotal way it could be: Domino's was delivering pizza for free. He was making more money from the ads on his website when you go to order online. And now Pizza Hut and most of the other pizza joints (who were going out of business) also started delivering free pizza !
The clients : Yeaaaaa, today I order from Pizza hut and tomorrow from Pizza Pizza....
Less people will spend time on each of the pizzerias websites. Consequence: they will start to loose traffic, and traffic is money. This business model is not very viable on the long run
