They change the bills every so often to make it harder to counterfeit, but it was not in direct result to anything NK did.. they routinely change the bills, not always just by look but often minor things which you would never see..
Since 1933 the 100 bills has been changed 12 times.. Some are minor changes like using different security strips or adding a slight design deviation and a few are total redesigns..
None were because of North Korea specifically...that would be stupid, because the old bills would still be in circulation and the new ones would still eventually be counterfeited. Hell in the 80/90's it was South American drug-lords whom were counterfeiting 100's by the truck loads.. ie there is always large scale counterfeiting and the bills are always being changed every 8 to 10 years on average.
