I lived through the period of the 60's race riots as a boy. I grew up in the City of Detroit.
The destruction is there to this day: Vacant fields like an ad hoc monument to hate. One thing that I recall were the days of destruction and killing before the Governor asked that Johnson order in federal troops to restore the peace -- there were soldiers and tanks in the streets. It was an awful time for everyone and if you look at Detroit today -- that's 90% of the reason Detroit is what it is today.
So, Burn baby burn, but when you burn your own community down where will you live and do business? Vengeance without a real plan is its own evil ...
