accommodation was provided by the state my father got a 2 bedroom flat from the bank just for having 2 kids and it was his first job...during transition of state to private capital one could pay off the apartment for say 100$...my father was never any part of any party, you simply got apartments from the state if you needed them...serbia has a huge % of home owners...and so does the entire region of ex yugoslavia...we were "well off" as in we had almost 0 personal debt and did not struggle in any way...anf everything was free or cheap as shit...
